Hyderabad: Two reporters' extort Rs 80,000 from man, held

The accused were identified as Syed Arshad and Mohd Ali Baba, both working as crime reporters for a web channel based at Banjara Hills.

HYDERABAD: Two ‘reporters’ from a web channel were arrested by the police for extorting Rs 80,000 from a jewellery shop owner after threatening him, the police said.  The accused were identified as Syed Arshad and Mohd Ali Baba, both working as crime reporters for a web channel based at Banjara Hills. 

“On Thursday, the accused took Rs 80,000 from a businessman Salahuddin. They threatened him saying that he does not have licence and they will telecast it. They asked him to come to their office at Banjara Hills to settle the issue,” said inspector Hussainialam, G. Shyamsundar.
