A native of Assam, Ali, aged 24 years, committed suicide by hanging in his rented house allegedly in a fit of rage after a quarrel with his wife Priyanka.

Thiruvananthapuram: A 10-year-old differently-abled girl and her father were found hanging at their residence at Malayikkada near Neyyattinkara on Sunday.

The Marayamuttom police identified the deceased as Aleena, a student of Karunya School for specially-abled and her father Biju, 41. According to the police, Biju, a daily wage labourer, has been suffering from financial issues and was upset about his daughter’s condition.

On Sunday, when his wife Selvarani had gone away, Biju had suspectedly hung the child on a hook attached to the roof. Later he hung himself close to the child. Selvarani noticed the bodies at around 1.30pm and called up neighbours. Biju also leaves behind a one-year-old daughter named Daya. The bodies were taken to Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
