The son of a retired sub-inspector hacked his wife in full public view.

KANNUR: A CPM worker was  hacked allegedly by a group of ten RSS men at Kathirur on Monday afternoon.  Auto driver Sreejan alias Babu, 43, Kundanchery house, Kudakkalam, who is CPM Kunnummal branch committee member, was critically wounded and taken to Thalassery Cooperative Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Kozhikode.   He is also the husband of Eranholi grama panchayat president A.K. Ramya.

According to police, a gang of 10 people came to the autorickshaw stand on Nayanar Road at  Ponnyam from two different sides and attacked Sreejan. He sustained injuries on his head, chest and  limbs and was profusely bleeding. CPM Kannur district secretariat alleged that the RSS was behind the attack.  It was a conspiracy at a time when the political parties had agreed for peace initiatives, it said. However, the police did not confirm any political conspiracy and said that they had taken steps to  avert any revenge attacks.
