44 persons, including 12 children, rescued from bonded labour in Shadnagar

Hyderabad: A CID team along with the state labour department and Shadnagar police rescued 44 persons including 12 children, who were forced into bonded labour at the NHN brick kiln at Shadnagar.

Among the rescued persons, 33 belong to Odisha and 11 are from Chhattisgarh. This includes 18 men, 14 women and 12 children.

Based on a tip-off, the officials aided the kiln located at Dontigunta thanda in Kishannagar of Shadnagar. Inquiries revealed that the rescued persons were exploited and forced to work under poor working conditions under threat. The children were exploited under hazardous circumstances by driving them away from school.

P. Radhamma, assistant labour officer said as per the wish of rescued workers, they are being sent to their respective native places by train.
