Hyderabad: Apprehending outright rejection by family elders, two young couples committed suicide separately at Kesahmpet and Sha-bad in Ranga Reddy district on Monday.

At Shabad, the man and woman were found hanging on a tree, while at Keshampet, a young man hanged himself to a tree after learning about the suicide of his girlfriend.

Keshampet sub-ins-pector K. Venkatesh-warlu said that N. Sriramulu, 23, and P. Susheela, 18, both residents of Thommidi-rekula were in love for the last two years. They were planning to get married with the consent of their families. Meanwhile, Sus-heela conceived and she was four months pregnant. They were worried about parental acceptance as they belonged to different communities.

A worried Susheela hanged herself to the ceiling at her house at around 1.30 am and died. In the morning, as the news spread in the village, Sriramulu also committed suicide. He was found hanging to a tree located on the outskirts of the village at around 7 am, said the SI.

Two cases of suspicious deaths have been registered and the bodies were handed over to their kin after autopsy, he said.

At Lingareddiguda in Shabad, Pallavi, 19 and Mahendar, 21, were found dead hanging to a tree on the outskirts of the village.

The police found that they were in love for some time but were worried about acceptance of their families. This could have led to take the extreme step, police said. A case of suspicious death has been registered by the Shabad police.
