Telangana: Nigerians held for selling drugs

Police seized 14 grams of cocaine, 7 grams of heroin and 5.2 kg ganja from them.

Hyderabad: Two Nigerians who were allegedly trying to sell drugs were arrested on Friday. Police seized 14 grams of cocaine, 7 grams of heroin and 5.2 kg ganja from them. The suspects are Okaro Cosmos Ramsey and Abraham Jacob Ukoha.

Additional DCP (taskforce) N. Koti Reddy said that Ramsey came to Hyderabad on a business visa three years ago. He married a Kolkata-based woman, and was staying at Shaikpet. He developed local contacts and started selling drugs to them.

“Ramsey procured drugs from a Pune-based supplier. He purchases a gram of cocaine for Rs 2,000, heroin for Rs 1,500 and a kg of ganja for Rs 2,000. He sells cocaine and heroin for around Rs 6,000 a gram and ganja for Rs 6,000 a kg in the city,” Mr Koti Reddy said. “They had very less regular customers. When the customer comes in a car and slows down one of the suspects on a bike would drop the packet through the car window and speed away,” a cop said. The suspects were produced in court. Police said that they can know get more info about the racket, the customer base and origin of the drugs after questioning them in custody.
