Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Wednesday conducted searches at the office and residence of senior tax assistant, income tax office, Warangal, after receiving complains of corruption against him.

According to the superintendent of police, CBI, Sashi Kumar, the senior tax assistant, had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a person for handing over a clearance order issued by the Income Tax Office.

The IT department range Ward (4) Warangal issued a notice under Section 142 (1) of IT Act to the complainant. After the official allegedly demanded a bribe, the complainant approached the CBI officials, who laid a trap and caught Sashi Kumar at the Income Tax Office while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 20,000. Soon after the trap, the officials conducted checks at the office and residence of the accused and seized some incriminating material.
