Two get jail terms for raping minors

The accused dragged the minor into the bushes and raped her while his associates guarded him.

A father was sent on a 14-day jail term for the first time in Kurnool district for allowing his teenage son to drive a motor cycle registered in his name.

Hyderabad: The Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge pronounced sentences for two persons in two different cases on Saturday. Both cases relate to rape of minors.

In the first case, the accused raped a minor girl, 11, on August 23, 2016 when the minor went out of her house to purchase groceries. The accused dragged the minor into the bushes and raped her while his associates guarded him.

Based on a complaint from the minor’s father Zia-ur-Rahman the accused was arrested under Section 376 (2)(i)r/w 34 of IPC and Section 6 of the PoCSO Act and was finally convicted today. He was sentenced to seven years and fined Rs 2000. In the second case, that occured on the same day as the first, the accused sodomised a minor boy, 5, who had gone to the mosque to offer prayers with his uncle. When his uncle was offering prayers, the boy went outside the mosque and was lured by the accused and raped.

As soon as the boy’s uncle finished his prayers, he realised that his nephew went missing and made an announcement through the mosque’s speakers. The boy emerged out of the bushes at 10.30 pm and narrated his ordeal.

Based on a complaint from his uncle, Md Ashfaq, the accused was arrested under Section 377 of IPC and Section 5 (m) of PoCSO Act.
