Hyderabad: 3 get 2-year jail for theft in separate incidents

The accused were sentenced by the Nampally court to two years in prison.

Hyderabad: A court on Wednesday sentenced a 43-year-old man involved in a burglary and two thieves, all arrested by the Jubilee Hills police, to two years in jail.

In the first case, accused Repana Srinivasa Rao, 43, a wall painter from Borabanda, was involved in a burglary at Yousufguda where he had fled with cash, silver and gold ornaments, the police said. Previously, too, he was involved in similar cases in Nandigama police station area of Krishna district and in Kukatpally police station area.

“Srinivasa Rao was arrested during the course of the investigation, on September 20, with the stolen property and remanded in judicial custody,” West Zone DCP Mr A.R. Srinivas said. 

“On Wednesday, the magistrate of Nampally criminal court sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for two years.”

In the second case, Shaik Saleem alias Salman, 21, and Mohammad Asifuddin, 38, were accused in a case of trespassing and theft in Jubilee Hills. “Shaik Saleem was arrested for his involvement in five cases and Mohammad Asifuddin for his involvement in four,” the DCP said. “They were arrested during the course of investigation, on May 27, with stolen property and remanded in judicial custody. During the trial on Wednesday, the Nampally criminal court sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment for two years.”
