Punjagutta police arrests criminal involved in 11 theft cases

Hyderabad: Punjagutta police nabbed a 33-year-old interstate criminal who was involved in 11 cases of theft. Police recovered laptops and mobiles worth around Rs 6 lakh from the possession of Guntur native Sheikh Riyazuddin, who targeted private hostels.

DCP West Zone A Venkateswar Rao told the media that Riyazuddin, a school dropout, started working as a car driver and sometimes drove interstate goods carrying trucks. He was habituated to a luxurious lifestyle and alcohol, and took to robbery to fund it.

He was committing offences since 2005 and  arrested 14 times in TS and AP. “He would stay in a private hostel and wait for an opportunity to loot the electronic gadgets of the inmates,” the DCP said.
