Bolaram police arrests 2 cops in dacoity case

The two constables from Alwal police stations pretended to be Task Force officers, a police officer said.

Hyderabad: Two constables who were involved in a dacoity a week ago were arrested by the Bolaram police on Thursday. Police seized Rs 1.4 lakh cash from M. Sudhakar Reddy and M. Yadagiri, both constables with the Alwal police station.

Earlier, the police had arrested six suspects including two police personnel and four stringers working for regional news channels for  pretending to be Task Force officials and robbing Rs 19 lakh from a share broker.

The gang intercepted the victim’s car for a purported police check at Rythu Bazaar and took him to an isolated place before threatening and robbing the cash on Friday.

According to the police, TV channel reporter Uppala Praveen Kumar posed as the Task Force SP while two others,  Seth Deepak and P. Suman, posed as reporters covering the exercise,
