Dore murder: Police arrest 3 more

They helped killers with crucial info.

Bengaluru: The RT Nagar police, probing the sensational murder of Dr Ayyappa Dore, a former vice-chancellor of Alliance University, arrested three more people in connection with the brutal murder, taking the number of arrested to 13.

Dr Dore was stabbed to death while he was taking a walk after dinner at HMT playgrounds in RT Nagar on the night of October 15. The prominent among the 13 arrested is the chancellor of the university Sudhir Angur, who allegedly gave a contract to his accomplice Suraj Singh to eliminate Dr Dore.

The three accused, who were arrested on Friday, were identified as Manjunath alias Bande Manja (26), a resident of JC Nagar, Srinivas alias Sheenappa (18), a resident of Muniraddipalya, and Mahendra (31), a resident of Anekal.

R.T. Nagar police Inspector Mithun Shilpi said that the three assisted the killers by giving information about Dr Dore’s movements. On October 25, the police arrested seven people – Kantharaju (28), a musician, Sunil Rao, (31) an employee at a private bank, Sunil’s brother-in-law Arun Kumar (40), Fayaz (29), a mechanic, Vinay (24), a cab driver; Fayaz’s sister Rizwana (38), and Salma (28), a woman who worked at a dance bar and was allegedly in a relationship with the previously arrested prime accused Suraj Singh.

On October 20, the police shot at and arrested one of the killers Ganesh (30). A team led by Inspector Mithun traced him to a godown near Karnataka State Seeds Corporation Ltd. at Sanjay Nagar and arrested him after firing at him.

The R.T. Nagar police, who took up the probe into the sensational murder of Dr Dore, took no time in arresting Angur and Singh, the prime accused in the murder.

Dr Dore was stabbed 15 times by the five assailants at the HMT grounds. The murder, according to the police, was planned for over a month and Angur asked Singh to hire killers to eliminate Dr Dore and had agreed to pay him Rs 1 crore and other benefits, all to get control of the University.
