Hyderabad: Two men convicted for rape, murder
He was arrested under Sections 376 (2) and 506 of IPC and Section 5 r/w 6 of POCSO Act.
Hyderabad: Two people were convicted in two separate cases at Pahadishareef and Keesara on Thursday. In one case, a man who raped his daughter was given life imprisonment while in another case, a man who killed his wife got lifer.
According to Rachakonda police commissioner, a case was registered against Niranjan Berah, 35, for raping his 16-year-old daughter and impregnating her. He was arrested under Sections 376 (2) and 506 of IPC and Section 5 r/w 6 of POCSO Act.
The girl delivered a baby in 2017 and the DNA of the baby matched that of the accused. Niranjan was sentenced to life imprisonment and was asked to pay Rs 10,000 as penalty, said the commissioner.
In another instance at Keesara, the 13th Additional District Judge Court at LB Nagar convicted one P. Narsingh Rao on charges of domestic violence and murder of his wife Hemalatha in 2014. The court sentenced Rao to life imprisonment on Thursday and pay Rs 200 as penalty.
