Advocate-turned-businessman murdered in Mulugu

WARANGAL: An advocate who was also involved in the mining business was stabbed to death around 7 pm near the Pandikunta bus stop in Mulugu district on Monday.

The victim was identified as Madugula Malla Reddy, 58. The motive behind the murder is suspected to be rivalry over the mining business.

The police said that he was travelling to Mulugu from Mallampally in his car when five persons, in a Bolero, rammed his vehicle from the rear at the Pandikunta crossroads. Upon exiting his vehicle, unidentified persons attacked him with knives and murdered him, they said.

Upon being threatened by the perpetrators, Reddy’s driver fled the spot. The police are trying to trace Reddy’s driver.

The police said that Reddy was a famous advocate in Mulugu, and he later turned into a businessman, undertaking mining works. He also owned a petrol bunk in Mallampally.

Locals said that he was attacked in the past as well, mostly over land issues pertaining to the mining business.

Following the murder, SP Sangram Singh Patel went to the spot and a clues team was roped in to start the investigation.

Reddy is survived by his wife and two daughters. He was a resident of Advocates Colony in Balasamudram of Hanumakonda district.
