HYDERABAD:  A special team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Secunderabad rescued 27 children and arrested six human traffickers who were trying to transport the victims by Danapur Express late on Wednesday night.

The operation was a joint effort with the NGO Bachpan Bachao and was based on data analysis provided by the RPF's cyber cell, according to a statement.

RPF personnel escorted Danapur Express from Balharshah to Kazipet junction on its way to the city and conducted targeted raids when the train was between Kazipet and Secunderabad.

The operation was carried out by the anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) of RPF Secunderabad.  The traffickers were from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

On reaching Secunderabad station at 9.35 pm, the RPF team recorded statements of the victims.

In recent years, RPF has intensified its efforts to prevent transportation of individuals, particularly women and children, who are trafficked for forced labour and sexual exploitation, said Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, senior divisional security commissioner (SDSC), in a press release.
