Hyderabad: Electrician held for sex assault bid

Hyderabad: Shameerpet police arrested a 21-year-old electrician for allegedly trying to sexually exploit a seven-year-old girl on Tuesday.

The police said the girl, a neighbour of the accused, works in an electrical shop. On Tuesday, the electrician allegedly lured her on the pretext of giving her some toffees and took her to an open place where he tried to sexually exploit her. But the girl cried out loudly and alerted residents.

Seeing the public, the accused tried to flee but was caught and thrashed before being handed over to the police. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and he has been taken into custody for further investigation, the police said.
