Hyderabad: Cyberfraudsters trapped a techie in a YouTube ‘subscribe and like’ scam and began blackmailing her, according to a complaint lodged with the Cyberabad cybercrime police. The techie paid ₹5.94 lakh, and approached the police after the fraudsters demanded ₹2 lakh more, else they would morph pictures of her husband and upload it on porn sites.

Police said the techie first received a message on WhatsApp offering a part-time job of liking and subscribing to YouTube channels for money. The fraudsters initially paid her small sums of money, then kept moving her to higher levels and asking her to invest more money with them.

The techie over a period of time paid them ₹5,94,440. When she tried to withdraw her earnings, the fraudsters asked her to pay ₹2 lakh more.  When she refused, the blackmail started, said the police who began an investigation.
