Keralite held with 500 gm gold in rectum

Hyderabad: A Kerala resident who was smuggling 500 gm of gold in the form of paste in his rectum was caught by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials at the Shamshabad airport on Friday. The gold paste was packed in capsules and inserted into the rectum.

According to sources, the passenger, Mohammed Anshad of Kozhikode, Kerala, arrived in an Indigo flight from Dubai on Friday noon. He was intercepted on basis of specific intelligence. The accused also caught attention of the officials by his strange gait.

“The yellow metal was made into capsules covered with adhesive tape and was inserted into his rectum. The foreign mark gold he was carrying weighed at about 0.5 kg, valued at around Rs 15 lakh,” said a source.

Anshad was taken into custody and was handed over to the Customs officials at the airport for further investigation.
