Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police on Monday arrested a 30-year-old Rohingya national at Balapur for allegedly possessing a fake passport and Aadhaar card. The suspect is identified as Mohammed Hussaini. In 2018, more than 20 Rohingyas were arrested by Balapur Police on various charges.

According to Balapur Inspector S. Mohan Reddy, the suspect, Mohammed Hussaini, was living in New Baba Nagar Colony in Meerpet with his wife and son. He had obtained a fake passport, Voter Id card, and an Aadhaar card on his name illegally from a person named Sohail from Malakpet by paying Rs 25,000 to him. For obtaining these documents, he had given his native location as Uttar Pradesh and local residential address at Chanchalguda.

Based on a tip-off, cops raided his residence and nabbed him. Inquiries revealed that he is residing in Hyderabad for the past three years and is working on daily wages. He is married to a Rohingya woman Zohra Begum and the couple has a two-year-old child. "He obtained the documents illegally from Sohail by paying him Rs 25,000. But his wife and kid are not in possession of any fake documents," said Balapur Inspector S. Mohan Reddy. He was arrested and sent to remand, while a hunt is on to trace Sohail.
