Hyderabad: Woman's burnt body recovered
Victim's face pounded by rock, rape feared.
Hyderabad: Residents of Shastripuram colony under Mailardevpally police station limits were in for a shock when a blaze at an abandoned GHMC colony park was that of a woman set afire. The residents initially mistook it to be dried shrubs and plants on fire.
Police said the woman, identified as M. Padmamma, was set ablaze by some unidentified persons after they killed her by crushing her face and head with boulders. Padmamma leves behind two graduation students.
Shamshabad deputy commissioner of police P.V. Padmaja said that only after autopsy could they conclude if the deceased was sexually assaulted as well.
“The woman’s husband suspects one Vishnu who promised to find work for her and took her with him on Friday afternoon. Teams are working to nab the suspects,” she said.
An eye-witness to the fire informed the colony association members, who alerted the police. Only after police arrived was it found that a woman’s body was burning.
Padmamma along with husband Tirupati and two sons had migrated to the city from Mahabubnagar and had settled in a hut at Aramghar.
Recently, the couple came in contact with one Vishnu running an eatery.
On Friday morning, Padmamma along with her husband and the alleged suspect Vishnu consumed toddy at Danammajopidi proceeded to Aramghar in an auto.
Padmamma and Vishnu alighted enroute at Raghavendra colony and walked into the colony as he had promised to find her work in one of the houses.
However, her burnt body was found at night and Vishnu is absconding.
According to sources, he could not find her work and were heading home. Midway, he took her to the park where he must have tried to molest her, resulting in her being thrashed on the head and face with boulders and later set ablaze.
The body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
