Bengaluru: Four arrested for drug peddling

The police have seized 2.7 kg of charas and 5.3 kg of ganja from the arrested persons.

According to the police, they received information that narcotic substances were stocked at a house in BTM Layout second stage.

Bengaluru: The Mico Layout police have arrested four people, including a software engineer, on charges of drug peddling and seized over two kg of charas and five kg of ganja, worth Rs 27 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Ashok Bahadur, alias Singh, 21, of Nepal, Bijay Singh, 30, of HSR Layout, Nisamuddin, 25, of N.S. Palya in BTM Layout second stage and Avishek Singh, 34, of Hosapalya Main Road.

According to the police, they received information that narcotic substances were stocked at a house in BTM Layout second stage. They raided the house and found charas and ganja in the house. All the four were immediately arrested.

“Investigations revealed that Ashok Bahadur had got charas with the help of one Umesh, who had brought it to the city. He along with Bijay Singh sold it to students, employees of software companies and foriegners in the city. While, Nisamuddin and Avishek Singh had brought ganja from Hoskote and were selling it in the city,” the police said.

Ashok Bahadur had earlier worked as security guard. It is alleged that he extracted charas from cannabis plant in Nepal and sold it in the city to make easy money. “Nisamuddin was earlier working as a driver in UAE and he has experience of smuggling goods. The other accused Avishek Singh is software professional,” the police added. The police have seized 2.7 kg of charas and 5.3 kg of ganja from the arrested persons.
