Girl raped by Facebook friend, aide for 2 days in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A 17-year-old girl who became friend with a boy of her age on the social networking site Facebook, has allegedly been repeatedly raped for two days by the youngster and his aide. According to police, the girl hailing from Palatpur village under Mangalpur gram panchayat in Odisha’s Jajpur district became a friend with the boy from Kuranga Sasan under Cuttack Sadar police station a few days ago.
On January 26, the boy insisted the girl to come to Cuttack and meet him. When the girl arrived at Badamabadi bus stand in Cuttack, 25 km from here, - the boy took him to rented house at Uttamapur Adivasi Sahi where he kept her for two days. At the rented house, the boy and his friend allegedly raped her several times. When the owner of the rented house came to know that the boys’ wicked act and sensed trouble from the police, he took the girl to Badambadi bus stand and asked her to go home apparently to hush up the entire episode.
Determined to avenge her humiliation, the girl instead of returning home, went to the boy’s house and informed his parents and guardians about the sexual assault on her. As the message spread in the village, some local volunteers took the girl to the police station and asked her to lodge a complaint. The police immediately swung to action and detained the main accused. The accused was on Tuesday declared arrested.
