Cop and techie arrested for killing two persons in separate incidents

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested G. Mallikarjuna, a constable working with SR Nagar traffic police, and K. Dinesh, a techie, for killing two persons in separate accidents at KPHB and Balanagar on Sunday, while driving vehicles in an inebriated condition. In another gruesome accident at Patancheru, two 19-year-olds were killed when the scooter they were riding crashed into a median.

According to Balanagar police, one K. Durgaiah (58), a resident of Pragati Colony, was walking back home from work around 10.30 pm. Mallikarjuna, who was riding a bike, knocked down Durgaiah, who was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Passersby caught Mallikarjuna and handed him over to Balanagar police. He tested positive for drunk driving, said Balanagar SHO K. Bhaskar.

At KPHB, Dinesh, driving his Skoda, was returning home after attending a New Year party with friends. When he was near Mitra Hill, he rammed his car into a bike coming in the opposite direction, killing the rider N Arun Kumar, 33, on the spot. Dinesh also tested positive for drunk driving. G. Rajender Goud, the KPHB SHO, said that Dinesh was being sent to judicial remand.

Meanwhile, at Patancheru, R. Bharat Chandar and P Nitin, both aged 19, died and their friend A. Vamsi received severe injuries when their scooter rammed into a median. They were students of the JNTU Sultanpur campus in Sangareddy district and were returning to their room near the campus after a midnight party with friends in the city.
