Cops Grill Kabir For Inciting Speech Against BJP
In the morning, Mr Kabir appeared at the Rejinagar police station responding to its summons in a case in which he and some of his party workers were booked.
Berhampore: Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) founder and Nowda MLA Humayun Kabir was questioned by the police for nearly five hours on Tuesday in Murshidabad of West Bengal in the case of his alleged provocative speech from his party rally against the BJP workers on June 26.
In the morning, Mr Kabir appeared at the Rejinagar police station responding to its summons in a case in which he and some of his party workers were booked. After facing the grilling, Mr Kabir however claimed, "Cops of both Shaktipur and Rejinagar police stations are acting like slaves of BJP the way they did during Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's rule.”
He also alleged, “They disturbed and verbally abused our party workers late at night without any specific case. Is this an instance of democracy under the BJP government? They are trying hard to demoralise us before the Rejinagar assembly by-election. But we will not sit idle. We will fight BJP's misrule legally and democratically.”
Meanwhile, the AJUP chief, who recently earned chief minister Suvendu Adhikari's warning for his threats, has been served fresh summons at his residence by the cops of the Shaktipur police station where another case has been underway against him.
Asked about it, Mr Kabir said that he has heard about it. He also assured his cooperation with the police according to law before asserting that people of Rejinagar would no longer tolerate BJP’s high handedness.
