Modi Slams Congress Over Bidis Jibe
Modi credited women voters for keeping the RJD-Congress alliance out of power in Bihar for two decades, saying they had suffered most under past regimes marked by crime and corruption.
New Delhi/Purnea: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Congress of insulting Biharis by comparing them with bidis in a now-deleted social media post, and said voters would give a “befitting reply” to the Opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects worth ₹40,000 crore, Modi said the Congress and RJD had long damaged Bihar’s reputation through scams and misgovernance and were now trying to defame it again. “They can’t digest Bihar’s progress. Mothers and sisters will give them a fitting response,” he said.
The Prime Minister also attacked the Opposition for “defending infiltrators for vote-bank politics,” warning that illegal immigration posed a grave demographic threat to Seemanchal and eastern India. “Every infiltrator will be removed. Sealing infiltration is our firm responsibility,” Modi declared, adding that “Indian law will prevail, not the whims of illegal entrants.”
He credited women voters for keeping the RJD-Congress alliance out of power in Bihar for two decades, saying they had suffered most under past regimes marked by crime and corruption.
Modi also announced a “festival gift” for the poor and middle class, declaring that GST on daily-use items would be reduced nationwide from September 22, coinciding with the start of Navratri. “When a government truly cares for the poor, it delivers such impactful measures,” he said.
