Chhattisgarh University Rocked by 3rd Paper Leak Incident, Cancels Exam
IGAU cancels B.Sc. Genetics exam; university to file FIR, Congress seeks CBI probe
Raipur: A fresh paper leak incident, third one in the last three weeks, has rocked the Chhattisgarh government-run Indira Gandhi Agriculture University (IGAU) here, leading to cancellation of an exam.
The university on Thursday decided to cancel the first-year B.Sc. (Ag) ‘Fundamentals of Genetics’ paper following reports that the question paper of the exam was leaked five hours before the examination, held on August 19, sources said.
The viral PDF copies in three parts were in circulation among some candidates five hours before the exam, which commenced at 10 a.m. on August 30, the university has learnt, sources said.
Following this, the university on Thursday issued a circular announcing its decision to cancel the exam and reschedule it in the second week of September this year.
“It is hereby informed to all the students of B.Sc. (Ag) 1 Year, II Semester, 5th Dean, Academic Session 2025-26 that the examination of APB (Agricultural Plant Bleeding) 5125 (Fundamentals of Genetics), conducted on 19.08.2026, has been cancelled due to administrative reasons. The examination of APB 5121 will be rescheduled in the Second week of September 2026”, the circular, copy of which is in possession of this newspaper, said.
The university is going to file an FIR in connection with the fresh paper leak incident in the local police station, sources said.
The fresh paper leak incident has triggered uproar, with the Opposition Congress demanding a CBI probe into the series of such incidents involving IGAU in recent times.
The first paper leak incident came to light hours before the second-year B.Sc. (Ag) ‘Agriculture Entomology’ exam paper went viral on August 20, leading to its cancellation by the university.
Later, it was revealed that first-year B.Sc. (Ag) ‘Plant Pathology’ paper, held on August seven, was also leaked, leading the university to cancel and reschedule the exam.
A police probe into the first two paper leak incidents had revealed that a professor of Bhartiya Agriculture College, Durg, in Chhattisgarh, had sold the question papers to some students after taking a video of the question papers through an endoscopic camera by punching small holes in the envelopes containing the question papers.
The professor, along with six students, was arrested in this connection.
The agriculture college, a private institution, is among 28 such colleges which are affiliated with the IGAU.
