Raipur: A video showing a woman cop being attacked and then stripped by a group of people during an anti-mining protest in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district, has gone viral, triggering a row.

In the clip, the woman constable was seen being assaulted by the assailants who also tore her clothes even as she was seen pleading to them not to harm her.

The incident allegedly took place in Tamnar block on December 27 when a protest by the people of 14 villages against the coal mining in the area turned violent.

Two people were arrested in connection with the incident, a senior police officer said.

In the clip, the woman cop was seen sitting on the ground while the assailants surrounded her.

The miscreants then start abusing her and beating her with their sandals.

She was seen pleading mercy from them saying that she never beat anyone.

Congress on Friday slammed the state government for the attack on the woman constable by the protestors.

The party said that the incident reflected the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
