New Delhi: Buddhist monk Bhikku Pannakara, known as Sư Tuệ Nhân, has arrived in Delhi to lead a Peace Walk in India following his recent walk across the United States.
Pannakara gained global attention after leading a 120-day, 2,300-mile “Walk for Peace” from Houston, Texas, to Washington, D.C., drawing public participation along the route.
The monk, associated with the Huong Dao Centre in Texas, had earlier undertaken a walk in India in 2022. During that journey, the group adopted a stray dog in Kolkata, named Aloka, which has since accompanied them on subsequent travels.
Before taking monastic vows, Pannakara worked as an engineer with Motorola and holds a degree in Information Technology from the University of Texas at Arlington.
The US walk covered multiple states and was described as a silent meditation aimed at promoting peace and compassion. Following the programme, he led another peace walk in Sri Lanka in April 2026.
