Boycott Calls Grow Against Swiggy, Zomato Over Halted Jantar Mantar Deliveries

Calls to boycott Swiggy and Zomato are spreading online after users reported that food deliveries to protesters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar have stopped working. For over a week, strangers across India and abroad had been ordering food to the protest site as a gesture of solidarity with demonstrators demanding accountability over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and CBSE evaluation irregularities. Since Thursday, however, social media users say both apps have begun glitching specifically when the delivery address is set to Jantar Mantar or nearby locations.

The solidarity through food delivery had become overwhelming at one point that the organizers had even asked supporters to pause orders on July 21 because the site had received more food than it could use.

Pictures and videos from the protest site also showed volunteers sitting and sorting out food and distributing them.

The apparent halt has not been officially explained by either company, and neither Swiggy nor Zomato has issued a public statement addressing the glitches users are describing. That silence is fueling speculation online, with some framing the outages as a deliberate move to cut off support for the protest rather than a technical issue, though this remains unconfirmed.

The deliveries had become one of the more heartwarming threads of the protest that put ordinary consumers, delivery workers, and protesting students into unexpected contact.
