Bhubaneswar Hottest In Odisha At 38.2°C As Heatwave Conditions Intensify
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave conditions are likely to persist in the state over the next couple of days: Reports
BHUBANESWAR: Bhubaneswar emerged as the hottest place in Odisha on Friday, recording a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius at 2:30 PM, according to weather updates. The sharp rise in mercury levels intensified discomfort across the capital city, making it the warmest location in the State during the afternoon hours.
Among other major locations, Balasore recorded 37.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Chandbali at 37.4 degrees Celsius, while Sambalpur registered 36.4 degrees Celsius during the same period.
The soaring temperatures across several districts point to prevailing heatwave-like conditions in parts of Odisha, with residents experiencing hot and humid weather. Authorities advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, remain hydrated, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave conditions are likely to persist in the state over the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast an early onset of the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the end of this week. Atmospheric conditions are gradually becoming favourable for the monsoon’s advance over parts of the south Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
If the forecast materialises, the monsoon could arrive nearly five to six days ahead of its normal schedule, offering potential relief from the prevailing summer heat in eastern India.
