Berhampore: West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari asserted on Thursday Rejinagar in Murshidabad soon to be another model assembly constituency like Falta in South 24 Parganas.

He also trained guns on Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) founder Humayun Kabir for wishing his death.

Calling the Nowda MLA a “political traitor” for changing three parties earlier, Mr Adhikari hoped that the voters of Rejinagar would give him a befitting reply in the October 6-bypoll for his remarks.

He also vowed to visit there on the date of counting, October 9, to receive the winner’s certificate of BJP candidate Sakharov Sarkar.

The CM told a campaign rally, “Rejinagar will be a model assembly constituency like Falta with a series of developmental projects soon.

I hope the voters of the minority community here will enthusiastically elect BJP, like what happened in Falta, this time because they greeted me on the way to this venue. It will be 210.”

He said, “BJP never believes in divisive religious politics.

Though Mr Kabir won here last time, 35,000 Muslim women received Annapurna Yojana allowance.

It is Mr Kabir and Trinamul Congress who used them as a minority vote bank but did nothing for their development. Don’t divide Hindu-Muslim votes in a 70%-30% ratio.”

Targeting Mr Kabir, Mr Adhikari alleged, "He is actually a habitual political traitor.

He backstabbed Congress, BJP, TMC and now wants votes in the name of Babri Masjid.

He also openly wished for my untimely death.

I hope the people of Rejinagar will reply to such inhuman remarks in the EVM.”

Mr Kabir however sounded confident of the victory of his son Golam Nabi Azad, who is contesting as AJUP candidate at Rejinagar and vowed to oppose BJP.

“I will never ally with TMC led by Pisi-Vaipo (aunt-cousin) or Congress. Rather, I will contact Tamil Nadu CM Vijay after the bypoll.”
