KOLKATA: In a major organisational reshuffle ahead of the Assembly Election in West Bengal, BJP on Wednesday formed a fresh committee of 35 State Office Bearers with some prominent leaders. It also inducted new faces at the helm of many state Morchas including the Minority which will now be led by a Muslim leader instead of a Hindu leader.

The reorganized panel of the state BJP Office Bearers however does not have the name of former state party president and ex-MP Dilip Ghosh, who union home minister Amit Shah met during his recent visit to the city and projected as one of the key faces of the party for the upcoming polls battle for his successful stint earlier.

Headed by present state BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya, the new Office Bearers’ team has 12 vice presidents (VP), five general secretaries, 12 secretaries, a treasurer, two joint treasurers, an office secretary and a joint office secretary.

The dozen VPs include Alipurduar MP Manoj Tigga, Asansol MLA Agnimitra Paul, Falakata MLA Dipak Barman, former MPs Nishith Pramanik and Debasree Chaudhuri, former Trinamul Congress MLA Tapas Roy and Jagannath Chattopadhyay.

While the list of five general secretaries has Purulia MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, Bishnupur MP Saumitra Khan and former MP Locket Chatterjee on board, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh has found a place among another dozen of secretaries.

At the state Morcha level rejig, only Indranil Khan and Phalguni Patra continue as the state presidents of Yuva and Mahila respectively unlike others. While Rajib Bhowmick has replaced Mahadeb Sarkar as the Kishan president, Shubhendu Sarkar succeeded Ajit Das as new OBC head.

At the SC Morcha, Sujit Biswas became new president in place of Sudip Das. On the other hand, Maldah North MP Khagen Murmu has been appointed as the ST Morcha president, a post earlier held by MLA Joyel Murmu. Ali Hussain has been made the Minority Morcha president in place of Charles Nandi.
