Tanisha Agrawal realises childhood dream of flying, joins IndiGo and begins Airbus training: Reports
BHUBANESWAR: A childhood dream backed by determination and perseverance has taken Tanisha Agrawal of Odisha’s Bargarh district into the cockpit, as she has become the first woman from the district to obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
Tanisha, who had nurtured a dream of flying an aircraft since her school days, chose aviation as a career at a time when medicine and engineering remain the more conventional choices among students after Plus Two.
After completing her schooling, she began exploring the aviation sector and underwent theoretical training in India before travelling to California in the United States for commercial pilot training.
The rigorous training lasted around one-and-a-half years, during which Tanisha underwent extensive flying sessions and also achieved a significant milestone by completing a solo flight.
Following her return to India, she obtained her Commercial Pilot Licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), formally qualifying her to pursue a career as a commercial pilot.
Her achievement was followed by another major breakthrough when she secured a job with IndiGo. She is currently undergoing training to fly Airbus aircraft and hopes to soon take to the skies as a professional pilot.
Tanisha’s achievement has brought immense pride to her family and has also emerged as an inspiration for young women in Bargarh and elsewhere in Odisha who aspire to build careers in aviation.
“From dreaming of the skies as a schoolgirl to earning her commercial pilot licence and entering airline training, Tanisha’s journey is a testament to the power of determination, perseverance and hard work in turning an ambitious dream into reality,” said Mahendra Darjee, a resident of neigbouring Balangir district.
