Kolkata: Diamond Harbour Trinamul Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee skipped his appearance at the Bidhannagar Court in Salt Lake on Wednesday for the second time to record his voice sample to the criminal investigation department (CID) of the West Bengal police in the case of his provocative speech against BJP workers during his Assembly Election campaign.

Mr Banerjee was earlier directed by the same court to present himself on Wednesday to participate in the process to help the CID collect evidence following his absence on June 30 for the same purpose. A CID team was present at the court with forensic experts this time and waited for two hours for the young TMC leader's appearance.

When Mr Banerjee still did not turn up, public prosecutor Bivas Chatterjee lodged a complaint to the court on behalf of the CID against him for deliberately delaying the probe. He also prayed for strict action by the court against the TMC MP in the matter.
