65-Year-Old Woman Dies In Howrah Building Fire, 12 Rescued
Blaze breaks out on third floor of five-storey building in Ankurhati area.

An elderly woman died, while 12 people were rescued from a residential building in West Bengal's Howrah district where a fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.The body of 65-year-old Rupa Mukherjee was found inside a room of a flat in the building in Ankurhati area, police said.
A Fire Brigade official said 12 people have been rescued from the five-storey building.
The blaze, which erupted at a flat in the third floor around 1 pm, was brought under control by five fire tenders after nearly two-and-a-half-hours, he said.
A forensic inquiry will be conducted to ascertain the cause of the fire, the official said.
Locals alleged that lack of water sources in the vicinity proved to be a hindrance for the Fire Brigade officials in tackling the blaze.
Earlier, two incidents of fire in hotels claimed 18 lives in West Bengal.
Nine people died in a hotel fire at Tarapith in Birbhum district on August 17, and on August 19, nine people, including seven Bangladesh nationals, were killed in a devastating blaze in a Kolkata hotel.
