22-Year-Old Man Drowns at Birthday Party in Nagpur Farmhouse Pool

Bengaluru:A 21-year-old identified as Karthik allegedly died reportedly over a bet with his friends to drink 5 full bottles/pouches (180 ml each) of alcohol (whiskey) undiluted for a cash reward of Rs 10,000.

However, owing to undiluted alcohol consumption by Karthik, he developed health complications and died at the hospital after he failed to respond to the treatment. The incident is said to have happened a week back.

Karthik, a resident of Poojarahalli in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar. It is said, Karthik took to betting with his friends identified as Vekatareddy, Subramani and four others. While Karthik partied with his friends, it is said, Venkatareddy offered Karthik to reward him with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 if he manages to consume 5 pouches of undiluted alcohol.

Karthik is said to have accepted the challenge thrown at him and confidently stated “None can defeat him in alcohol consumption.” While it is unclear the amount of alcohol consumed by Karthik which led to his deterioration in his health condition.

After he developed health complications, Karthik was rushed to a hospital in Mulbagal and he died after he failed to respond to the treatment administered by doctors at the hospital.

Karthik was addicted to alcohol and was married a year back. His wife delivered a baby a week back.

Based on a complaint filed by family members of deceased Karthik, Nangali police registered a case and arrested accused persons-Venkatareddy and Subramani and search is on to trace other accused involved in the boozing case.

Nangli police have registered a case and investigations are on.
