2 CRPF Personnel Injured as IED Planted by Naxalites Explodes in Dantewada

Blast occurred near Saatdhaar bridge on the Indravati river during area domination operation

Two CRPF jawans were injured in Dantewada when a pressure IED planted by Naxalites went off during a patrol; both are out of danger.

Raipur: Two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were on Thursday injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by the Maoists in Dantewada district under south Bastar of Chhattisgarh, police said.

One of them was grievously wounded and airlifted to Raipur for treatment, police said.

The incident occurred when a team of CRPF 195 battalion was conducting a demining operation near a bridge at Satadhar under Melawati area, police said.

A CRPF jawan stepped on an IED planted under a road in the area by the Maoists,leading to the explosion.

The two injured jawans were admitted in the district hospital and one of them was later shifted to Raipur when his condition worsened, police said.

In another development, 16 Maoists on Thursday surrendered in the district headquarters of Narayanpur in south Bastar.
