127 Naxals Surrender In Bastar, In 2 Groups

RAIPUR: Around 127 Maoists including several senior cadres on Wednesday surrendered at two places in Bastar in Chhattisgarh, police said.

While 100 Maoists surrendered in Kanker district in north Bastar, 27 Naxals laid down arms in Sukma district in south Bastar.

The surrendered Naxals in Kanker district included senior cadres Raju Salam, a divisional committee member (DVCM), and Rajman Mandavi, also a DVCM.

Both carried a bounty of Rs eight lakh each.

The Maoists surrendered at the Kamtera camp of Border Security Force (BSF)’s 40th battalion under the Koyalibeda police station area in Kanker district, police said.

According to officials, the rebels surrendered 39 weapons including AK 47, SLR, INSAS and LMG rifles.

“Details on the surrender will be released at appropriate time”, a senior police officer said.

In another development, 27 Naxals, carrying a total bounty of Rs 50 lakh, surrendered in Sukma on Wednesday.

The surrendered ultras included 17 men and 10 women.

One of them, 53-year-old Oyam Lakhmu, was the supply team commander of the headquarters of platoon number two, and carried a bounty of Rs ten lakh, according to Sukma district superintendent of police Kiran Chavan.
