Bengalureans today have access to the best media streaming apps on the planet like Netflix and Amazon Prime and the recently launched HotStar Premium. But there’s still a huge void when it comes to field of music, and that’s where Spotify has come the rescue!  “Spotify is pretty much a musical social media platform. I can connect with all my friends, listen to the music and playlists they listen to and they can introduce me to new music, just by listening to it themselves” says Pranav Aditya, a student of Jain College. What makes Spotify sought after is the various features available at your disposal. Be it the low data cost, or its access to podcasts, audio logs and recorded comedy shows as well.

“Spotify is just a deep aural exploration. based on what I listen to, Spotify introduces me to experience genres I love, and even invites me to explore tastes I’ve never heard before. When was the last time someone made a radio station all for you? Spotify did!”  Says Akshitha Subramanium. “Spotify is that one app you can use to listen a variety of music from all over the world. In order to gain access in the city however I needed to change my online address to America or the UK to use it.” Says Reevan Rego, a photographer.

Spotify as a service is available all over the world but is still hesitant to enter the Indian market. Many speculate that this is because of the many music streaming services like Gaana and Saavn that are already prominent. “Sometimes youtube videos are made unavailable to our country and the only way to watch the video is to use a  VPN or a ‘Virtual Proxy Network’, you need to use the same in order to use Spotify as well” says Aman Nair, a student in the city. A Virtual Proxy Network is used to protect internet user’s identity by faking their location to any place in the world. This prevents them from being affected by malicious users and sites.
