Bengaluru-bred entrepreneur Sana Rezwan is participating for the first time at the ongoing London Design Fair. The curator, Spandana Gopal contacted Sana for a spectacular collaborative effort that puts India on the global design map amongst 20 other countries.

“Spandana of Tiipoi, the UK-based brand and design studio, approached us and it felt like a great opportunity to highlight the new narrative that defines Indian design today,” says Sana.

In a landmark move, an Indian brand, (Indelust) will be supporting ‘This Is India’ — the first guest country pavilion at the event. A proud Sana states, “Our role has been as sponsor as well as to make sure that we are bringing artisans that exemplify the new guard of design and craft. We have acted as liaison with each brand to make sure their sensibilities and the aesthetic goals of the curator are best represented. It has been an incredible opportunity to create an immersive exhibit,” she says.

Ten lucky Indians were selected to showcase their talent at this prestigious event. How did they choose the final names? “Both Spandana and I collaborated on this process however as the curator of the show, she made the final selection. Our role was to help bring forth brands that we’ve worked with who best represented good design from India. such as Claymen, Taamaa, Leah Singh, Injuri and Objectry,” she adds.

In an example of new-age dynamism,  Sana  who has relocated to NYC after her marriage to Nihar Sait, manages her Bengaluru-based venture via remote control from the US.

“I am in touch with my team everyday; we have early morning calls and coordinate over email. I have a fantastic group of people who have made it what it is today,” she says, adding, “I try to go back to India every two to three months. It helps keep the momentum going and gives me an opportunity to catch up with my family, friends and team,” Sana explains.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Sana is already exploring other collaborations and partnership opportunities in NYC. “As far as expansion goes, we are heavily focused on building our e-commerce presence and visibility as well as bringing the experience of our Bengaluru store to life through pop-ups in Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi this year. Yes, we do have a lot going on,” she states!
