A doctor by profession, Anand is also a passionate filmmaker whose short films address a wide array of social issues.

Born in Adivi Devulapalli in Nalgonda district, Dr Anand completed his primary education in Devarakonda and Miryalaguda followed by an MD from Ayurveda College in Hyderabad. But the medical officer, who works in Delhi says, “From my childhood I was always interested in films, but I decided to settle first and then go for it.” The recipient of the Dr BR Ambedkar National Award 2019, Anand was recently lauded by the Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu for his social service through his cinema.

“I wanted to spread awareness among the people, so I took social issues like education, basic rights and health, with special focus on backward and poor people,” explains the cinema enthusiasts.  

His first short film titled Prajaa Vaakku highlighted education for girls and human rights. “I got good appreciation from many filmmakers like Dil Raju,” says Anand proudly. Yet another short film Anturanithanam deals with caste discrimination.

Recently, Anand also made a music video called Rainbow. “This is a tribute to the victims of racism and is dedicated to the late Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Sharath Koppu, who lost their lives in USA to racism,” explains the doctor.

Meanwhile, his short films have caught the attention of Telugu filmmakers who are egging him on.

Most recently, actor Vijay Deverakonda and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao launched his music video.
