Days ahead of Diwali, actress Deepika Padukone and shuttler P.V. Sindhu have taken on new roles as ambassadors for ‘Bharat Ki Laxmi’ — Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest initiative that aims at showcasing the commendable work done by women across the nation.
Sharing a video on the new campaign which underscores the cause of women empowerment, the Prime Minister tweeted, “India's Nari Shakti epitomises talent and tenacity, determination and dedication. Our ethos has always taught us to strive for women empowerment.”
Further, he praised Deepika and Sindhu for becoming the flag bearers of his new campaign. “Through this video, @Pvsindhu1 and @deepikapadukone excellently convey the message of celebrating #BharatKiLaxmi,” he wrote.
Both brand ambassadors followed it up with their own tweets. “This Diwali, let us throw light on & celebrate the contribution & accomplishments of the women of our country! #BharatKiLaxmi,” wrote Deepika while Sindhu emphasised how women feel empowered when their accomplishments are recognised. “I support PM @narendramodi ji #BharatKiLaxmi movement. It celebrates the extraordinary achievements of extraordinary women of India. This Diwali, let's celebrate womanhood,” she added.
