Favourite T.V couple: Monica and Chandler

I  think Friends is the one TV show I would think of when I think of romance. It wasn’t a quintessential romantic show but I really, really loved Monica and Chandler as a couple. I would say they look like the perfect couple. Their chemistry on the show was a 10/10. I specially loved the scene where Monica proposes to Chandler, it was probably one of  the best moments of the show. They are the ideal couple that capture the different shades of love for me.

Favourite movie: The Notebook

As a kid I believed in fairytales and that someday there will be a knight in
shining armour who will come and get me. So I’m completely a Valentine’s Day person. I have seen almost all romantic films and even today my feel good cinema is a romcom. In Hollywood it is The Notebook and my all time Bollywood favourite is Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Both these films  symbolise that love beats the odds and always finds a way.

Favourite play: The Beauty and the Beast

I  recently saw Disney’s popular musical The Beauty and the Beast here in Mumbai and it was amazing. Based on the popular animated film, the production was on par with the movie. The actors playing Belle, Beast and Gaston make it seem like you are watching the story for the first time.

My daughter has seen the movie many times and yet she was keen to watch the production. I really enjoy watching these kinds of shows live as it gives an emotional feeling and we can literally feel the story. Plus, you are never too old to watch fairytales.

Favourite cuisine: Indian

My favourite cuisine is Indian cuisine however contradicting it may sound owing to my origin. I eat really spicy and hot food and I enjoy it whole heartedly. Butter-chicken and dal makhani with naan dripping in butter is something I love and would love to share with my loved one. Peshawari at ITC Grand Maratha has great food and I highly recommend it for a sumptuous meal. That’s so far the best butter chicken I’ve eaten unless I cook it myself. I will serenade my loved one on Valentine’s Day with my Davide’s signature Tiramisu and she’s ought to fall in love with me with every bite! That I can guarantee! Great food and great conversation with some selective wine is the way to your loved one’s heart.          — Davide is a chef

Favourite book: The Gift of the Magi

A timeless classic and my all-time favourite love story has to be The Gift of the Magi, a short story by the famous American writer O. Henry. Written and published in 1905, it takes place at Christmas time and tells the story of Jim and Della Dillingham, a poor, young married couple who don’t have enough money to buy each other Christmas gifts.

This shows how true love can lead to selflessly sacrificing one’s most prized possession, to bring happiness to the one you love dearly. Despite having been written in the early 20th century, even today it brings a tears to my eye as I see the story unfolding in my mind. Reading O. Henry’s simple but eloquent style of
writing is like watching a painting gently taking form on a canvas. And the final picture or story in this case is nothing short of brilliant!

Favourite album: Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories

Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories is my personal favourite. It’s not something that most people would consider to be romantic but it holds a special place in my heart because of the memories associated with it. I call it special because my wife and I listen to it a lot together, it’s something we connect with and associate each other with. So special that we like to call it “our” album. It somehow never fails to bring a smile on my face. I would also listen to the songs from the album while shooting for NH10, with the gang, so a lot of memories attached there as well.
