“Justice served”, they tweeted after the encounter death of the 4 rapists.

Top cop V.C. Sajjanar, who played a key role in Hyderabad encounter on Friday, had led a similar encounter in 2008 in Warangal after three accused were killed for murdering a woman in an acid attack.

After the horrific gang rape and murder of a young veterinary doctor in Hyderabad last week, the city woke up to the news that all four of the accused had been shot dead in a police encounter.

Happy about the sudden turn of events, most in the Telugu film industry stated that justice had been served. Several of them took to social media to hail the Telangana police and posted Cyberabad Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar’s picture too. One of the first to respond, Allu Arjun simply tweeted, ‘’Justice Served (sic).”

Meanwhile, several other actors also tweeted as news of the encounter spread like wildfire:

‘Is encounter the only answer?’
Actress Manchu Lakshmi believes that stronger laws need to come into force

While most of the Telugu film fraternity took to social media to express their happiness over the latest developments in the Disha case, actress Manchu Lakshmi says that it is time to come up with stronger laws and acts. “As a woman and a mother, I am very happy about this encounter. But is this the real solution? Several other questions remain unanswered. The main culprit in the Nirbhaya case is free and happily enjoying his life, while the government is feeding the other culprits. We need to change our laws and come out with stronger ones,” says Manchu Lakshmi, who believes that an encounter is not the answer to everything. “No one should infringe on a woman’s freedom. Friendly policing should come in and I appeal to the authorities to change our laws quickly,” she says, appealing to everyone to respect law and order. “Parents should look after a female child on par with their male child right from their young days,” she states.

“Human rights are for humans...not for pervert animals...Laws are made by us, the people, and have been executed by the police department. This will discourage further innocent women losing their lives or being targeted. Finally...The brutes deserved it for the inhuman horrific crime they committed. We will never get back the innocent Disha again... but the next time someone thinks of rape or murder they will also realise the consequences.”  #JusticeForDisha #Encounter (sic)

Fear is a great solution and sometimes the only solution. I didn’t say anything about the incident when it happened because every message I received, accusing me of not paying my condolences to the victims, was a reminder of how little I have done to help the women in my society and one tweet wasn’t going to free me of that guilt.

Chiranjeevi applauds  deaths by encounter
Actor Chiranjeevi believes justice has been served. “After I woke up in the morning and heard that the four culprits related to the Disha incident were killed in an encounter, I felt it was a true tribute to Disha. It is real justice, and I hope the parents who lost their daughter get some relief with this,” says Chiranjeevi.

He went on, hoping that the next time anyone thought about doing something like this they remember this encounter. “People who treat women as objects should be treated like this, and it’s a big lesson for those human animals,” says Chiranjeevi in his statement. The Megastar added that he was happy the case came to an end within a week, and then went on to appreciate Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar as well as the Telangana Government.
