Lush, vibrant greenery, birds of many feathers and breathtaking waterfalls are a refreshing sight after a long week of the mundane.

While the monsoon season can be perfect for cozy days on a couch with a good book and hot tea, I found the great outdoors have more to offer.

If you're looking for a getaway just for the day or a peaceful space to reconnect with nature, head over to explore Karjat's Bhivpuri waterfalls on the outskirts of Mumbai.

You don't have to be an avid trekker to visit this haven, as the trails are easy to navigate. On your way you'll uncover hidden waterfalls of varied heights and pretty lakes to sit by and enjoy a meal.

And if you are feeling really adventurous (I wasn't that day), you can even give water rappelling (descending down the waterfall with the help of ropes) a go.

While I did not get the daredevil in me out, I did enjoy the refreshing showers under the falls after the long hike, and it was magical!

While you’re still daydreaming of a sweet escape, enjoy a few photographs of the beautiful scenic views at Bhivpuri from my trip.
