Shantnu and Nikhil.

New Delhi: For more than two decades, Shantnu Nikhil has rewritten the codes of menswear. The man wore drapes when menswear demanded structure, challenged the rigidity of ceremonial dressing and moved instinctively between Indian codes and western tailoring. In parallel, the Maison’s womenswear evolved through sculpted form, sensuality, volume and an instinct for the unexpected. But a wedding asks something different of both. It brings everything with it; family, memory, and culture. It brings the weight of what came before, and, somewhere inside all of it, the freedom to decide what comes next. Within that world, a distinct woman emerges.

This time, we meet her. The Shantnu Nikhil bride, romantically fierce, never fragile. She carries her mother's wedding photographs, her father's stories and the rituals she grew up with. When it is finally her turn, she wants some of it too, just not necessarily in the same way. Our collection, Becoming, is about that choice. Tradition is not abandoned, but edited. And a wedding today rarely carries only one inheritance. She brings hers. He brings his. Another family, another history, sometimes another culture. Unconventional veils beside safas. Lehengas beside tuxedos. Her rituals beside his. Each retains where it came from while becoming part of something that belongs to both of them.

“A wedding is one of those rare moments when you can almost see where you come from and where you are going at the same time. Your parents are there, sometimes two cultures are meeting, and in the middle of it all are two people beginning something of their own. Somewhere within that emotion, we found ourselves looking at the bride differently…” - Shantnu and Nikhil

Becoming brings the lehenga into full focus through sculpted corsetry, sweeping volume and elaborate surfaces of hand embroidery, metallic detail and prints that catch the light like an old photograph tilted towards a window. Across gowns, sherwanis, tuxedos and bandhgalas, sharp tailoring meets fluid drape. Beyond the aisle, the world of Shantnu Nikhil extends to family and generations, reflecting the multicultural spirit of weddings today. Ivory, blush, mint and gold move into emerald, navy, fiery red and black, the mood growing more decadent as the day shifts from vows to celebration, and finally, the quiet of night.

“With Becoming, we wanted the silhouettes to carry her warmth, her fire, her certainty with the same charge she brings to the ceremony and everything that comes after. Everything you carry, meeting everything you are becoming.”- Shantnu and Nikhil

Tradition remains, the family grows, cultures meet… And somewhere between theirs and yours, she makes it her own.
