Dr Gurava Reddy, a world renowned orthopaedic surgeon and MD of Sunshine Hospitals, goes down the memory lane when asked about his Rakhi sisters.

“I consider Dr Chiranjeevi as my own sister and we treat each other like family. She has been working with me for the past seven years, but we know each other right from medical school. Since then, she has been calling me Annayya. I share a similar relationship with Dr Sailaja Surapaneni, a cosmetologist, whom I’ve known since five years. Both of them come home every year to tie rakhi,” he says.

“They feel like they get unreserved love and protection from me, and they come to me when in trouble. That is why we are so affectionate,” he says, adding, “Not that they need protection from any man. They are both very independent and capable. It is just that with love they call me Annayya.”
