During the entire month of February the internet is divided into two major types of couples. Type one comprises of those who go gaga with surprising their beloved or getting surprised by them and then flooding the social media with their happy and loving moments. Type two is the opposite — they refrain from following the band-wagon. They are under no pressure to impress the partner just because it’s V-Day.

We spoke to some celebs to find out if they feel the social pressure and FOMO too. Most of them belong to the Type 2 group.

‘Saina may laugh if I suddenly surprise her with a rose’

- Parupalli Kashyap, badminton star

“It’s a monday. We will be on the grounds, busy training. But now that I’ve been asked about V-Day, I feel like I should get Saina a rose or something nice maybe. We’ve never done these things for each other so If I suddenly do something now, she’ll laugh.

We both have different training and sleep timings. What really matters to me is, we must talk regularly. If we don’t share about how our day and training went for a few days in a row, that’s when it bothers me and I remind Saina that it’s been a while and we haven’t really talked. We’ve been together for 15 years now, so there’s no PDA anymore! Anyways where is the public now-a-days for public display of affection!”

‘I find V-day very cliched’

- Kushal Tandon, model

“I’ve actually never celebrated Valentine’s day in my life so far. I don’t believe in having a particular day to express my love towards anybody. It’s really a personal choice. I feel we should go out with our loved ones, celebrate or give them gifts when we’re feeling the love in our hearts and not because it is a particular day. I find the V-day very cliched.”

‘Work comes first for me’

- Rahul Dev, actor

“I do believe that the occasion is something to be celebrated, I too have done so in the past. But, looking at the deadlines and the work schedule that I have now, for me duty comes first. And I also feel surprises in life must be more spontaneous. That, according to me, is more real.

We humans love surprises, I’d love one myself and so would my partner. But we both have work and responsibilities. If your relationship is meaningful and has depth, then even if one of the partners fails to plan something for the day, the other half will understand.

My girlfriend is a morning person, she wakes up at 5:30 am and I wake up relatively late unless I’ve an early morning shoot. So the key really is adjustment and acceptance of one another, if that is there, everyday can be a Valentine’s day.”

On a dinner date

- Atharv Nahar, Mehryaar actor

“I will be taking my newly wed wife Pooja (we got married recently, on Feb 5) for a romantic dinner. Social pressure should not drive us to do anything. I believe it should be the responsibility of every man to make his wife feel special even on regular days.”
