Ruchi Gujjar Turns Heads at Cannes 2025 with PM Modi Necklace
The actress blends Rajasthani tradition with a bold political statement on the global red carpet.
At the 78th Cannes Film Festival, Indian actress Ruchi Gujjar captivated audiences not only with her presence but also with a powerful blend of tradition and politics. Draped in lavish Rajasthani jewelry, she walked the red carpet wearing a striking costume necklace featuring the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Her lehenga and odhni showcased exquisite Bandhani fabric embellished with mirror embroidery, Gota Patti, and Zardozi work, paired with a golden embroidered dupatta. The outfit was designed by Roopa Sharmaa and Ram of Zaribari Royals, celebrating her Rajasthani heritage.
The Modi necklace was more than an accessory—it was a statement piece symbolising India’s rising status as a global economic powerhouse. Gujjar remarked, “The necklace is more than just jewelry; it’s a symbol of strength, vision, and India’s ascent on the global stage.”
Hailing from the village of Mehara Gujarwas Khetri, she graduated from Maharani College, Jaipur, and transitioned from a software engineer to a model and actress. She gained recognition through popular music videos like ‘Jab Tu Meri Na Rahi’, ‘Ek Ladki’, and ‘Heli Mein Chor’. Currently, she stars in the upcoming film Life alongside Nishant Malkani, which addresses sensitive societal issues such as abortion and suicide—topics she also highlighted during her Cannes visit.
