New zebra enclosure at Bannerghatta Biological Park

The enclosure is spread over 3,600 square metres and was built at an approximate cost of Rs 63 lakh.

Two pairs of zebra were procured from Zoological Center, Tel Aviv, in Israel and were released to the new enclosure for public view.

Bengaluru: The Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) has announced the opening of new enclosure of zebras, which was recently built pm the  zoo premises by Infosys Foundation. The enclosure is spread over 3,600 square metres and was built at an approximate cost of Rs 63 lakh.

The enclosure was inaugurated by Infosys foundation Chairperson of Dr Sudha N. Murthy. “Two pairs of zebra were procured from Zoological Center, Tel Aviv, in Israel and were released to the new enclosure for public view. Sudha Murthy also named the zebras as Bharat, Pruthvi, Kaveri and Hemavathi,” said Santosh Kumar, Executive Director, Bannerghatta Biological Park Bannerghatta.
After the inauguration of the enclosure, a thanksgiving ceremony was held at the BBP auditorium.

Sudha Murthy, the contractor and the engineer who constructed the enclosure, were honored by the park authorities.
